The Cranial Prosthesis Pavilion
Medical Hair Replacement With Compassion, Comfort & Confidence.
Cranial prostheses are specialized hair replacement systems designed for individuals experiencing hair loss associated with medical conditions or treatments. Care is private, unhurried, and shaped entirely around you.
What a cranial prosthesis is
A medical wig is a comfort decision as much as a cosmetic one.
A cranial prosthesis is a hair replacement system created for someone experiencing medical hair loss. Beyond appearance, the priorities are a gentle base, a secure and comfortable fit, and a hairline that lets you move through your day without thinking about it.
Units are selected or made to order, then adjusted in person. Where a style is not available in a suitable construction, we will say so and discuss realistic options rather than promise a result.
Before & After
A young client’s transformation.
One of our youngest clients, wearing her new cranial prosthesis — shared with her family’s permission.
Hair loss we work with
Individual situations, never a single template.
Alopecia
Including androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata and more extensive forms of hair loss. Coverage, parting and density can be chosen to suit how much hair remains.
Cancer Treatments
Hair loss related to chemotherapy or radiation can be sudden and sensitive. Soft caps, gentle edges and lightweight density are typically the priorities.
Lupus
Hair loss and scalp sensitivity can accompany lupus. Caps are selected for gentleness against tender or reactive skin.
Burns & Scarring
Where skin is fragile or uneven, a base can be discussed with comfort and coverage in mind. Care is shaped around what feels tolerable day to day.
Other Medical Hair Loss
Traction alopecia, medication-related thinning, thyroid-related changes, trichotillomania and other conditions — each discussed individually and privately.

Cap construction options
Lace & Silicone
A soft lace front paired with a silicone base for wearers with sensitive scalps.
- Comfort
- Silicone can feel gentle on skin that is tender or has limited hair coverage. Lace at the front allows a natural hairline.
- Care
- Clean the silicone edge with a gentle cleanser, allow it to dry fully, and avoid oils directly on the silicone.
- Best considered
- Best considered when skin sensitivity is high and a secure, low-friction fit is wanted.
Monofilament
A sheer hand-tied mesh that allows versatile parting and natural movement.
- Comfort
- Breathable and lightweight, with soft knots that sit gently against the scalp.
- Care
- Detangle gently, wash in cool water, and dry on a stand to protect the mesh.
- Best considered
- Best considered when a realistic parting and airy feel matter most.
Silk-Base Systems
A smooth silk top that creates the appearance of scalp where hair is parted.
- Comfort
- Smooth against the skin with an opaque, scalp-like finish.
- Care
- Use cool water and a mild shampoo; blot rather than wring, and store flat or on a stand.
- Best considered
- Best considered for a polished parting and coverage over thinning areas.
Polyurethane Construction
An ultra-thin, skin-like base that can support adhesive or tape options.
- Comfort
- Very low profile, with a secure feel for active wearers.
- Care
- Remove adhesive residue carefully with a recommended solvent and rest the base between wears.
- Best considered
- Best considered when a secure, close-fitting hold is the priority.
Adjustable Medical Caps
Soft caps with adjustable bands and optional grip elements for a secure fit.
- Comfort
- Designed for comfort during long wear, with adjustment as sensitivity changes.
- Care
- Spot clean bands, air dry completely, and check the fit periodically.
- Best considered
- Best considered when comfort and easy wearability matter most, or between other systems.
Construction selections depend on individual needs and the availability of suitable products. Nothing on this page is a recommendation for a medical condition, and no wig is presented as healing or treating the scalp.
The appointment
What we cover together.
Consultations are private, unhurried, and can include a support person if you would like one present. No diagnosis is required to book — only a conversation.
- Wash gently in cool water with a mild, sulfate-free shampoo.
- Blot with a soft towel and dry on a stand — never brush a wet cap.
- Rest the unit between wears to let the base breathe.
- Bring the piece in periodically for a check of the cap, edges and density.
Customization
Hairline placement, part line, density and length are adjusted so the unit suits your face and your daily routine rather than a standard template.
Sizing & Fit
Head measurements are taken privately. Cap size, banding and grip options are chosen for security without pressure points.
Scalp Sensitivity
Where skin is tender, bases and edges are selected for gentleness. Comfort is checked during the appointment, not assumed.
